Role for an Experienced Senior Accountant

We currently have an opening for an experienced senior to join our friendly long established accountancy practice in Horwich.

The role will involve preparing accounts for a portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

The role is very varied and will include tasks such as:

  • Preparation of accounts for owner managed limited companies, sole traders and partnerships to review stage, by processing data from the client’s records.
  • Preparation of personal and corporation tax computations.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Bookkeeping duties using computerised accounting systems such as Sage and Quickbooks to enable the filing of VAT returns.
  • Liaising directly with clients, answering their queries and providing on-going business advice. You will be the first port of call for your portfolio of clients.
  • Actively support and co-operate with other team members including mentoring trainees when required.

Minimum knowledge and experience required:

You should:

  • Have around 5 years’ experience working within a small/medium sized accountancy practice. Ideally you will be AAT qualified or above, but candidates qualified by experience will be considered.
  • Have excellent knowledge of accounts preparation and good knowledge of taxation.
  • Be confident to visit clients, assisting them to maintain computerised accounting records, which will require you to have a good understanding of VAT legislation.
  • Have knowledge of a range of accounting packages, primarily Sage Business Cloud/Sage Line 50.
  • Be committed to furthering your technical knowledge and maintain your CPD which you will apply to your work.
  • Be highly organised, motivated, and able to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Have the ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships while representing the firm and maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

You will be based primarily in the office with some local travel to clients. For this you will require your own vehicle.  This is a full-time role, and the hours are 9am to 5pm, to meet our business requirements.

Role for a Junior Staff Member

A well-established accounting firm in Horwich is seeking a committed and enthusiastic accounts junior to join our friendly team. You will be an energetic and self-motivated individual who is looking to further your career in accountancy. You will be trained to become a part of our accountancy team.

The role is very varied and in the first instance the tasks will include:

  • Preparation and filing of VAT returns by processing client’s data.
  • Preparation of accounts for partnerships and sole traders.
  • Bookkeeping duties using computerised accounting systems- mainly Sage Business Cloud.
  • Actively support and co-operate with other team members.
  • Completion of ad hoc duties.

Minimum requirements:

You should:

  • Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Be confident to liaise directly with clients in person and by phone.
  • Have good computer skills including Word and Excel.
  • It is desirable to have obtained a good grade in GCSE/ A levels in accountancy or business studies or started AAT studies.
